Erasmus +
Erasmus+ is an European Union programme in the field of education, training, youth and sport. The aim of the programme is to support participating countries in effective use the potential of social capital and promote lifelong learning idea.
It encourages student and staff mobility for study and work, and promotes international cooperation projects among higher institutions in Europe. The programme currently comprises 34 countries.

Erasmus at the Nencki Institute
Nencki Institute was awarded an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) authorizing institutions to participate in the Erasmus program in 2014 and is an active participant of the program. PhD students at the Nencki Institute and its employees have an opportunity to go abroad for a part of their studies, placements or courses to improve their professional qualifications through Erasmus+.

Detailed rules for participation in the program are contained in the procedures of the institutions. At the Nencki Institute there is the Eligibility Criteria for Erasmus+ mobility. PhD students may apply for study exchange and placements. Employees can apply for training or to carry out teaching activities. Eligibility criteria for Erasmus+ mobility, implementation of the mobility document and all application forms are available on the intro under International Cooperation and Project Management section.
Additional information
Each person nominated for the program will receive an Erasmus+ grant as a contribution towards the additional costs of their mobility, and it is not a full maintenance grant.
The amount of grant depends on the country and length of stay. It is calculated in accordance with the guidelines of the Erasmus National Agency. Applicable rates can be found on the website of the National Agency of the programme.
Rights and obligations
Your rights and obligations are defined at Erasmus+ Student Charter.
All participants are required to have insurance ahead of their travel. EU citizens will continue to be able to make use of the EHIC (European Health Insurance Card).
As an exchange student you will still be able to receive funds from the Nencki Institute while abroad. Mobility of employees will take place as part of the delegation.
Information for incoming students
We welcome you to come to the Nencki Institute as part of an exchange study with one of the partner institutions or to undertake work or an arranged traineeship.
In order to undertake an Erasmus+ study exchange period at the Nencki Institute, there must be a current institutional agreement in place between your home institution and the Nencki Institute. Contact your home institution to check if an agreement exists.
Incoming traineeship students
If your home institution has an Erasmus Charter, then you may be eligible to undertake traineeship through Erasmus+ at the Nencki Institute.
Erasmus+ traineeship must be organised through the Nencki lab you would like to join. Please contact the relevant lab directly to see if they are interested.

If yes, you will discuss what the traineeship might involve, prepare training agreement and sign all paperwork. People from the lab will be responsible for you throughout your stay.
It is important to note that traineeship students would not be registered as students at the Nencki Institute and will not have an affiliation.

Once you have been nominated by your home institution, please complete the application documents:
- Fill in application form (below)
- Attach completed learning/ training agreement
- Attach copy of your health insurance policy or European Heath Insurance
- Attach copy of your passport
