Prof. Bozena Kaminska, head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the Nencki Institute, has received the Prime Minister's award in the category: Achievement in the field of scientific activity.
The award was given for the discovery of new genomic and epigenetic alterations in malignant gliomas, changes in their microenvironment, and new methods of enhancing the effect of immunotherapy. The research of Prof. Kaminska’s team is concerned with understanding the genomic and epigenetic perturbations that occur in brain tumors and the mechanisms that shape cellular variation in gliomas and are involved in the anti-tumor response. The results of these studies have provided essential knowledge that offers real opportunities to improve the treatment of malignant gliomas.
