Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek member of the European Research Council

The European Commission has appointed five eminent scientists and scholars as new members of the European Research Council (ERC) governing body, the Scientific Council. Among them is Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek from the Nencki Institute.

The European Research Council (ERC) is an organization that supports scientific research in Europe. Its priority is to promote interdisciplinary research beyond the state of the art.

The ERC is composed of an independent Scientific Council, its governing body consisting of distinguished researchers, and an Executive Agency (ERCEA), in charge of implementation. The Scientific Council is constituted of 22 top-ranking representatives of the European scientific community.

The ERC Scientific Council determines the specifics of the grants and their level of funding, develops the annual work program, establishes the procedure for evaluating proposals, appoints experts to evaluate proposals, and monitors the implementation of the program from a scientific point of view.
