Professorial nomination for Ewelina Knapska

On 7 September 2023, the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda has given the title of professor of natural sciences to dr hab. Ewelina Knapska.

Prof. Ewelina Knapska leads the Laboratory of Emotion Neurobiology, which focuses on studying neuronal circuits that control social and food-motivated behaviors. The research is centered on analyzing the role of the amygdala and its connections with other brain structures. In their studies, Prof. Knapska's team utilizes tests they have developed for behavior assessment, including an automated system for studying social behaviors called Eco-HAB, in combination with opto- and chemogenetic methods, as well as electrophysiological techniques. The primary aim of their research is to identify the plasticity of neuronal circuits and explore ways to apply this knowledge in the therapy of social and motivational behavior disorders.
