Professorial Nominations for Agnieszka Dobrzyń and Mariusz Więckowski

Two professors from the Nencki Institute, prof. dr hab. Agnieszka Dobrzyn and prof. dr hab. Mariusz Więckowski, were awarded the highest professional degrees, that of Professors of Biological Sciences, by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace on 26th January 2016.

Prof. dr hab. Agnieszka Dobrzyn is a head of Laboratory of Cell Signaling and Metabolic Disorders. Her research team carries out cutting edge, multidisciplinary studies on signaling pathways and gene expression regulation that have far-reaching implications on cell metabolism and human metabolic diseases, i.e. type 2 diabetes and related dysfunctions. Prof. dr hab. Mariusz Wieckowski has his own group in the Laboratory of Bioenergetics and Biomembranes. The main task of his group is to study oxidative stress – related to the dysfunction of mitochondrial respiratory chain and activation of pro-oxidative p66Shc pathway.
