Asferico 2017 award for Łukasz Bożycki

PhD student from the Laboratory of Lipid Biochemistry, Łukasz Bożycki, won the Birds category of the Asferico 2017 International Photography Competition organized by the Italian Association of Nature Photographers - AFNI (founded in 1989). He is the only Pole to win a prize in the group of 70 of the best photographers from 21 countries.

The Poecile montanus is shown in the winter forest during ITS flight between trees. The photo was created in the Masurian forest at the time of weather warnings because of the raging Orkan Ksawery. The photographed sitter used a feeder at the edge of the forest.

Lukasz Bożycki is also a two-time winner of the international photography competition organized by BBC Worldwide and the Museum of Natural History in London. Photo "Zabowisko" was recognized as Photo of the Year 2013 by the International Federation of Wildlife and Nature Photography. In 2014 he received an award from the hands of Her Royal Highness Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, for a photo of a Daubenton's bat. In 2015 he joined the finalists of the National Photographic Competition National Geographic Poland. In 2016 he received the Teofrast Award for the best popular science-based psychology book of 2015. "Animal Rationale. How animals can inspire us." In 2017 he received an artistic scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage
