Invitation for a lecture of dr Agnieszka Dębska

I would like to cordially invite you to the habilitation lecture which will take place on the 26th of September at 3pm in CN lecture hall.

We will host dr Agnieszka Dębska (Laboratory of Language Neurobiology, Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences). Her habilitation is processed by the Scientific Council of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences. She will give a lecture entitled: “The Neural Basis of Typical and Atypical Reading and Writing Development”

Abstract:

Reading and writing are relatively recent skills in human history, emerging long after spoken language, raising critical questions about how the brain adapts to support literacy. This presentation will discuss findings from our longitudinal pediatric studies using functional magnetic resonance imaging and cognitive assessments to explore the neural mechanisms underlying literacy acquisition. We aimed to characterize both typical and atypical processes, focusing on dyslexia and isolated spelling deficit. The results offer new insights into how the brain develops and adapts to support reading and writing, expanding our understanding of literacy-related disorders.
