Dear All
I would like to cordially invite you to the Nencki Institute Seminar which will take place on the 10th of November at 3 pm. We will host dr Remigiusz Worch from the Laboratory of Cell Biophysics. His habilitation is processed by the Scientific Council of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology. He will present his lecture in a hybrid mode entitled: "Fusion peptide of influenza virus studied in artificial membrane systems"
Abstract
Although during the recent coronavirus pandemic influenza became an “ordinary flu”, it still remains a severe human pathogen. Hemagglutinin is an influenza protein responsible for binding to the cellular receptors and fusion of the viral envelope with endosomal membranes. A part of hemagglutinin which is directly embedded in the membrane is called a fusion peptide. I will present our studies of influenza fusion peptide, the applications of artificial membrane systems, spectro- and microscopic techniques and molecular dynamics simulations. I will also introduce virus-like particles (VLP) and their vaccination potential. .
