The subject of the invention is new peptide derivatives of platelet derived growth factor, for use of these compounds as a therapeutic agent for the regeneration and/or treatment of neurological wounds caused by mechanical, chemical, thermal and/or radiative injuries, surgical operations and/or other pathological conditions.
Neurological injuries include all types of traumatic and rapid pathological changes within the nervous system and associated neurovascular system. Injuries within the central nervous system (CNS) i.e. in the brain and a spinal cord are exceptional life- and health-threatening. In these cases, an injury causes structural changes, dysfunctions of electrochemical signaling, cellular death (affecting not only neurons, but also all types of glial cells), resulting in physiological, cognitive changes as well as in these regarding to feelings, emotions, and memory. The obtained peptides exhibit stability under physiological conditions. Both chemical synthesis on a solid substrate and biotechnological production provide purity, specificity and yield/efficacy of the obtained compounds.
