Dr hab. Piotr Majka, from the Laboratory of Neuroinformatics at the Nencki Institute, has been awarded the Prime Minister's Award for a scientific achievement that provided the basis for his habilitation: Atlas of corticocortical connections in the common marmoset monkey (Callithrix jacchus).
The award-winning series of studies concerns the brain structure of the common marmoset. They aim to determine the correlation between brain structure and brain functions, such as the perception of sensory information, decision-making, and specific behavior. This research has made it possible to develop the first cortical connectome of the primate brain, which brings us significantly closer to understanding the structure and function of the human brain.
