Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek Appointed President of the New PAS Branch in Warsaw

Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek, head of the Laboratory of Neurobiology at the Nencki Institute, has been elected President of the Warsaw Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The newly established branch brings together 140 PAS members and covers the Mazowiecki region. One of its main objectives will be to strengthen cooperation between institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, universities, and regional authorities. The branch will also actively engage in science outreach activities in Warsaw and work to enhance the presence of the scientific community in public debate.

“I believe that the mission of the PAS Branch in Warsaw will be to carefully listen to the needs of the scientific community, inspire cooperation, and support researchers’ initiatives. I am particularly committed to building a strong platform for collaboration between PAS institutes and Warsaw universities. I am convinced that together we will develop this space for cooperation and strengthen the role of science in public life,” said Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek after the election.
