Second bilateral Conference of the Nencki Institute and the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic

On October 11, the 2nd Conference of the Nencki Institute and the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (IPHYS) was held at the Nencki Institute, coordinated by Prof. Mariusz Więckowski and Prof. Adam Szewczyk from the Nencki Institute. The Nencki Institute and IPHYS have been successfully collaborating for years, carrying out several joint scientific projects under the CEUS-UNISONO and OPUS+LAP/WEAVE Grants, as well as the international Bio4Med (Biology for Medicine) Program.

The topics of the conference focused on metabolism and neurobiology. The meeting aimed to establish new contacts between group leaders and create a platform for further collaboration.

Institute of Physiology was represented by the Director Dr. Jan Kopecky and six group leaders: Dr. Martin Rossmeisl, Dr. Jan Svoboda, Dr. Olga Zimmermannová, Dr. Daniel Hadraba, Dr. Tomáš Čajka, and Dr. Jiří Paleček. IPHYS was represented also by administrative staff Petra Janečková, Viktor Kratochvíl, and Kateřina Uhrová.

The Nencki Institute was represented by the Director - Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences - Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, and eight group leaders: Prof. Adam Szewczyk, Prof. Mariusz Więckowski, Dr. Aleksandra Pękowska, Dr. Grzegorz Sumara, Dr. Ali Jawaid, Dr. Adam Kłosin, Dr. Rafał Czajkowski and Dr. Tomasz Wypych. The conference included 14 presentations by participants from both institutes. Researchers from the Czech Republic also had the opportunity to visit laboratories at the Nencki Institute.
