On November 20th and 21st 2019, the meeting of the Council of Provosts, and a plenary meeting of the II Division of Biological and Agricultural Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, was held at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Warsaw. The meeting was attended by Members of the II Division, Members of the Council of Provosts, Members of the Academy of Young Scholars, and invited directors of the institutes of the PAS. At the meeting of the Council of Provosts, prof. Krzysztof W. Nowak, Chairman of the Council, presented information about ongoing competition procedures for the position of director in several institutes of the PAS. Novel regulations of the assessment of Institutes of the II Division of Biological and Agricultural Sciences of PAS by the Council of Provosts during the 2019-2022 term were discussed and adopted.

On November 21st, 2019, prof. Katarzyna Turnau, Dean of the II Division led a plenary meeting. Professor Jerzy Duszyński, the President of the PAS reminisced the recently deceased prof. Lech Wojtczak in a lecture entitled "Prof. Lech Wojtczak - Scholar, Mentor, Friend”. Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, Director of the Nencki Institute PAS, gave a lecture entitled "The Nencki Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences - 100 years of scientific creativity", presenting the history of the Nencki Institute and its current changing face with emerging new centers: Brain City (International Research Agenda) and two Dioscurri Centers of Scientific Excellence.

Conclusions and justifications of the Commission were from prof. Leszek Kaczmarek, Chairman of the Awards and Distinctions Committee of the II Division of the PAS, and prof. Andrzej Grzywacz, Chairman of the Committee of the Medal of Michał Oczapowski announced awardees in 2019. Information on newly selected real and correspondent members of the Polish Academy of Sciences in the Faculty was provided. Update of amendments to the statutes of institutes, and other units of the Polish Academy of Sciences, has been given. Resolutions were adopted to determine the number of elected members in individual Scientific Committees in the II Division.
