The Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS starts recruitment for the position of an Intern in a research project on new strategies for probiotic supplementation in the prevention and treatment of asthma, funded by the Foundation for Polish Science under the First Team FENG programme (First Team FENG FNP, project nr FENG.02.02-IP.05-0106/23), which is conducted by Prof. Tomasz Wypych, PhD as a PI. The Intern will support the Microbiome Research Laboratory team led by Prof. Wypych in ongoing tasks related to project implementation and research on the microbiome and its impact on the functioning of the immune system.
Requirements:
- Status of a final-years MA student in fields related to the project scope (biology, biotechnology, microbiology, molecular biology, biophysics or related disciplines),
- Research interest in the microbiome, immunology, or molecular biology,
- Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques and willingness to learn new methods,
- Ability to work in a team, accuracy, and good organisational skills,
- English proficiency sufficient for literature analysis, desk research, preparing research presentations, and networking with researchers from other countries working on similar topics.
Scope of tasks:
- Performing auxiliary tasks related to the implementation of scheduled research activities,
- Supporting the team in maintaining microbiological strain cultures,
- Assisting in assessing the immunomodulatory properties of studied bacteria,
- Participating in the preparation of samples for microbiological and molecular analyses,
- Assisting in collecting, organising, and preliminary analysis of experimental data,
- Maintaining laboratory documentation in accordance with project standards,
- Supporting the project team in ongoing laboratory and administrative activities.
