National Representation of Doctoral Candidates

The National Representation of Doctoral Candidates (KRD) is the statutory representative of doctoral candidates in Poland. Its mission is to represent the interests of the doctoral community, protect doctoral candidates’ rights, and participate in the dialogue on higher education and science. KRD provides opinions on legal acts concerning doctoral candidates, presents positions on matters important to the doctoral community, and supports the development of doctoral self-governance and cooperation between doctoral candidates across Poland.

As the Doctoral Students’ Council of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS, we actively participate in the activities of the National Representation of Doctoral Candidates (KRD). We take part in elections and open meetings of the KRD Board, supporting cooperation between doctoral councils and representing the voice of the Nencki Institute doctoral community at the national level. Kalina Nec – Chair of our Doctoral Students’ Council – is also involved in KRD activities as a member of the KRD Team for Cooperation with the Economic Environment, where she supports initiatives aimed at strengthening connections between the doctoral community and the socio-economic environment, as well as promoting the professional development of doctoral candidates.

Warsaw Doctoral Forum

The Warsaw Doctoral Forum (WFD) is an organization bringing together doctoral councils from Warsaw universities and research institutions. Its aim is to support cooperation, exchange of experiences, and integration of the doctoral community in Warsaw. WFD creates a space for joint initiatives, organization of events for doctoral candidates, and discussion of topics important for early-career researchers.

As the Doctoral Students’ Council of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS, we actively participate in WFD activities by taking part in meetings and co-organizing initiatives dedicated to doctoral candidates from Warsaw research institutions. Within this collaboration, we contribute to initiatives such as the “Warszawskie Forum Bezpieczeństwa” webinar series focused on safety-related topics, as well as the “International Integration” activities aimed at supporting the integration of doctoral candidates from Poland and other countries and introducing them to Polish culture. Wiktoria Laprus – Vice-Chair of the Nencki Institute Doctoral Students’ Council and a member of the WFD Team for Projects and Promotion – is also involved in WFD activities. We encourage doctoral candidates to follow our emails and other communication channels, where we regularly share information about upcoming WFD initiatives in which we participate and invite the doctoral community to join.

Association of Doctoral Candidates of Polish Academy of Sciences Institutes

The Association of Doctoral Candidates of Polish Academy of Sciences Institutes (PDIPAN) brings together representatives of doctoral councils from Polish Academy of Sciences institutes across Poland. Its aim is to support the exchange of experiences between doctoral candidates, undertake joint activities for the doctoral community, and represent the interests of doctoral candidates conducting their research at PAS institutes. The Association provides a platform for discussions on challenges faced by doctoral candidates and for cooperation on initiatives supporting the development and integration of the doctoral community within Polish Academy of Sciences institutes.
