In 2015, Polish Academy of Science Division of Biological and Agricultural Sciences, awarded the team led by Dr. Jakub Wlodarczyk (Laboratory of Cell Biophysics, Nencki Institute), Dr. Magdalena Dziembowska (Laboratory of Neurobiology, Nencki Institute) and Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek (Laboratory of Neurobiology, Nencki Institute), and including as well Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek,  Dr. Alexandra Janusz, Dr. Michal Stawarski, Dr. Zsuzsanna Szepesi for outstanding scientific achievements. The awarded series of works is entitled "The role of matrix metalloproteinase-9 in synaptic plasticity."

The awards are granted annually for particularly important research findings published in prestigious scientific journals over the previous 3 years.
