Congress BIO 2014 in Warsaw

Four Polish Scientific Societies: the Biochemical Society, the Society for Cell Biology, the Biophysical Society and the Bioinformatics Society, for the first time organize in Warsaw, on 9-12 September 2014, the common Congress BIO 2014. It will be Poland's first such large-scale meeting of scientific communities dealing with biosciences. The Organizers lead by Prof. Urszula Wojda from the Nencki Institute hope the joint platform will be profitable for each of the four disciplines, as the constant progress in science increasingly requires interdisciplinary cooperation. As a venue the Organizers have chosen the Warsaw University - the leading Polish academy located at Krakowskie Przedmieście Street (buildings of the Auditorium Maximum and Old Library). The language of the congress will be English. Lectures will be given by distinguished scientists from Poland and abroad, including two Nobel Prize laureates, Prof. John Gurdon (opening lecture) and Prof. Aaron Ciechanover (closing lecture). The program of the BIO 2014 Congress offers a rich array of sessions, from characterization of biomolecules through the cellular “omics” and functional cellular systems, up to specific cell types and their functions in norm and in disease states. The program includes also the popular session SCIENCE AND SOCIETY which is open to the public. The chairpersons of this session will be Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń and Dr. Halina Waś from the Nencki Institute. The Congress BIO 2014 will bring together over 750 scientists from Poland and abroad and 50 companies presenting research equipment and reagents. Congress provides an excellent opportunity to promote the achievements of the Polish science.
