On Saturday, 4th October 2014, the Centre for Innovative Bioscience Education (BioCen) and the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology Polish Academy of Sciences organized educational workshops at the Hydrobiological Station of the Nencki Institute in Mikołajki. The workshops were attended by about 150 pupils from secondary and primary schools from Mikołajki and the surrounding areas. During independently performed experiments the students explored the mysteries of proteins, found out what is DNA, met the remarkable properties of yeast and red cabbage, and responded to the question, what we need enzymes for.
