It is my great pleasure to invite you to the next Nencki Institute Seminar. On the 5^th of May, at 3pm, we will host prof. Marcin Kortylewski from the Department of Immuno-Oncology Beckman Research Institute at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, CA who will give a lecture entitled: Oligonucleotide Drugs for Cancer Immunotherapy: Are We There Yet?

Abstract

RNA therapeutics have unique potential to target undruggable protein as well as RNA regulators of oncogenesis and tumor immunosuppression. Despite being an attractive tool for cancer therapy, their clinical application has been limited by common challenges in the delivery of oligonucleotides to selected cellular targets or by the unwanted off-target effects or immunotoxicities. This presentation will review the recent advances in overcoming such limitations using conjugation of oligonucleotides with targeting moieties such as DNA and RNA aptamers, TLR9 ligands or small molecules. It will also provide update on the preclinical and clinical development of TLR9-targeting oligonucleotides for applications in cancer immunotherapy, specifically for treatment of human prostate cancers and glioma, and in immunomodulation.
