Nencki Institute Seminar

I would like to warmly invite you to our next Nencki Institute Seminar on the 8th of February at 3pm in the CN lecture hall. We will host Prof. Javad Nazarian (professor at the University of Zürich, the Head of the DIPG/DMG Research Center at University Children’s Hospital Zürich and an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the George Washington University and Children’s National Hospital (CNH) in Washington DC, USA). The lecture will be entitled: "Targeting DMG tumorigenicity using international resources and expertise"

Abstract

Pediatric brain tumors are amongst the most challenging cancers. High grade gliomas are currently untreatable, and thus children are faced with a grim diagnosis. We have established an international team of scientists, clinicians, and engineers to address this problem and to accelerate finding cures.  Our group’s work has resulted in launch of two clinical trials that ae open in USA and Europe. We intend to use this model to establish working groups for other challenging cancers. Most childhood cancers are epigenetically driven and working with our colleagues have identified and validated the clinical utility of epigenetic reversing agents.  I will explain our approach and will shed light on our findings while also highlighting challenges ahead.

If you are interested in speaking with Dr Nazarian on Thursday during the day, please get in touch with Katarzyna Leszczynska (k.leszczynska@nencki.edu.pl).

The lecture will be followed by a get together.

With best wishes
Tomasz Wypych
