A subject of the invention is a compound 8-(octadecylsulfanyl)quinoline for use as a drug, especially for use in the treatment and prevention of the development of insulin resistance. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition containing 8-(octadecylsulfanyl)quinoline as an active ingredient, and to the use of 8-(octadecylsulfanyl)quinoline for the manufacture of a drug for the prevention of insulin resistance.

Patent was granted in Poland. Nencki Institute is the co-owner of the applicable rights with University of Warmia and Mazury. The institute is responsible for patent protection and commercialization related activities.
