On January 14th, 2021, The President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda has given the title of professor of natural sciences to dr. hab. Katarzyna Radwańska from the Nencki Institute.
The Laboratory of Molecular Basis of Behavior, led by Prof. Radwańska, is studying molecular basis of memory processes. In particular, they study molecular, functional and structural alterations of the brain that underly physiological and pathophysiological memories. Toward this end they apply behavioral analysis of transgenic mice in the IntelliCage system as well as ex vivo electrophysiology, confocal, electron and correlative 3D microscopy. The long-term aim to their research is to develop insights for memory dysfunction treatments in psychiatric illnesses.
