On 25th June, 2014 Bronislaw Komorowski President of the Republic of Poland handed professorial nominations to the academic teachers and workers of science and art. In the group of nominees was prof. Krzysztof Zabłocki, head of the Laboratory of Cellular Metabolism at the Nencki Institute.  

The main task of the laboratory is to study the changes in intracellular homeostasis and calcium handling of the regulation of metabolic processes both standard and pathology with an emphasis on disorders caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene

In addition, the research on the metabolism of endothelial cells under conditions of pathology are conducted (hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, inflammation). In the circle of interests there are also storage diseases caused by disturbances in the metabolism of cholesterol.
