The Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Warsaw, Poland signed an Agreement on Scientific Cooperation with SISSA, Trieste, Italy

Both institutions will strive to develop scientific cooperation by encouraging mutual visits of scientists and post-graduate students, organizing seminars, conferences and submitting joint grant applications.

SISSA has been founded in 1978. It conducts research in various areas of mathematics, physics (including astrophysics) and neurobiology.

Cooperation between SISSA and Nencki is coordinated by Prof. Kris Turlejski, who is engaged in joint research on the mechanisms of brain development in the laboratory opossum with Prof. Antonello Mallamaci. Prof. Daniel Wójcik cooperates with Prof. Alessandro Treves on mathematical modelling of neuronal spike activity.
