2nd Bilateral Conference between the Nencki Institute and the Science Faculty University of Portsmouth was held in Portsmouth (UK) on April 20th. It was organized within a frame of bilateral scientific collaboration between both Institutions. The conference enjoyed the honorary patronage of the Polish Ambassador to the UK, Prof Arkady Rzegocki.
The Polish side was represented by the Director of the Nencki Institute Prof. Adam Szewczyk, and four group leaders: Prof. Jolanta Rędowicz, Prof. Katarzyna Radwańska, Prof. Jakub Włodarczyk i Prof. Krzysztof Zabłocki. Portsmouth University was represented by Prof. Pal Ahluwalia, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Sherria Hoskins, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dariusz C. Górecki Director of Research School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences and four group leaders: Dr. Matt Parker, Dr. Susanne Dietrich, Dr. Colin Sharpe and Dr. Richard Hill.
The Conference was opened by Prof. Adam Szewczyk, Prof. Pal Ahluwalia, Prof. Sherria Hoskins and Mr. Janusz Wołosz, the Counsellor for Science and Education, Polish Embassy in the UK. The scientific part consisted of eight lectures given by Polish and British participants from both Institutions and a poster session presenting various PhD projects undertaken in Portsmouth. This meeting aimed at establishing new contacts between group leaders and creating a platform for a further collaboration. The conference was sponsored by Carl Zeiss Ltd.
The 3rd Bilateral Conference is planned to be held in 2018 in Warsaw.
