On 1 August 2022, the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda has given the title of professor of natural sciences to dr hab. Paweł Dobrzyń.

Prof. Pawel Dobrzyn is head of the Laboratory of Molecular Medical Biochemistry, which studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the pathogenesis of myocardial disorders. Analyses include signaling pathways and transcription factors that are involved in the regulation of cardiomyocyte apoptosis and the pathogenesis of left ventricular hypertrophy. One of the primary scientific interests of the Laboratory is to determine the role of stearoyl-CoA desaturase genes (SCD1 and SCD4) and the signaling pathways regulated by this enzyme in the development of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
