On 4 November 2026, a letter of intent on scientific cooperation was signed between the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the College of Medical Sciences in Warsaw, established by the LUX MED Group. The cooperation will focus in particular on translational research bridging basic science and clinical medicine.
“Most of the projects carried out at the Nencki Institute have potential translational applications. Our goal is to bring the discoveries made by researchers at the Nencki Institute into clinical practice. The College of Medical Sciences, established by the LUX MED Group, is therefore a natural partner for us in strengthening our
capabilities in the field of medicine,” said Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, Director of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, shortly after the letter of intent was signed.
Prof. Justyna Domienik-Karłowicz, Rector of the College, also commented on the event.
“Cooperation with the Nencki Institute, an institution of the highest scientific standing, is a source of pride and an honour for us. We are therefore delighted that we can build on our clinical foundations with the highest scientific quality,” she said.
In her view, it is worth focusing on “enhancing the quality of clinical sciences, including oncology, cardiology and lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity and diabetes.”
As Prof. Dobrzyń noted, signing a letter of intent on cooperation with a medical college “clearly outlines the direction in which we want to move forward.”
“We intend to develop the area of translation, that is, to find practical medical applications for our discoveries,” concluded the Director of the Nencki Institute.
