Brain – facts and myths. 2017 Brain Awareness Week in Warsaw

The Brain Awareness Week is the global campaign to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research. This year it will be held between March 13 -18 2017 at the Nencki Institute. We plan to concentrate on the problem that neurobiologists in Poland observe for some time already that is, spreading of disinformation and pseudoscience across society, mostly through the internet. This part of the Week will be aimed at our adult audience and students of high schools. We propose five lectures (one lecture a day) and so we recruited five renowned experts in medicine, science and education. The sixth day of the BAW will be fulfilled with exhibitions and games, and the exhibition “How the brain looks outside and inside”, mostly for children, but of course older audience is welcome. The main organizers of BAW 2017 are Polish Neuroscience Society and the Nencki Institute and the main sponsors are European DANA Alliance for the Brain (EDAB) and the Nencki Institute.
