26 września br. o godz. 15:00  w sali Centrum Neurobiologii Instytutu Nenckiego PAN odbędzie się wykład habilitacyjny dr Agnieszki Dębskiej  (Pracownia Neurobiologii Procesów Językowych, Instytut Biologii Doświadczalnej im. M. Nenckiego, PAN) pt.: “The Neural Basis of Typical and Atypical Reading and Writing Development”. Jej postępowanie habilitacyjne odbywa się przed Radą Naukową Instytutu Nenckiego PAN.

Abstract:

Reading and writing are relatively recent skills in human history, emerging long after spoken language, raising critical questions about how the brain adapts to support literacy. This presentation will discuss findings from our longitudinal pediatric studies using functional magnetic resonance imaging and cognitive assessments to explore the neural mechanisms underlying literacy acquisition. We aimed to characterize both typical and atypical processes, focusing on dyslexia and isolated spelling deficit. The results offer new insights into how the brain develops and adapts to support reading and writing, expanding our understanding of literacy-related disorders.
