This Thursday (10.09) we will host Prof. Heike Vogel (Department of Experimental Diabetology, German Institute of Human Nutrition Potsdam-Rehbruecke (DIfE); German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD), Germany), who will deliver the lecture entitled: "The molecular impact of lifestyle interventions on metabolic health". The seminar will take place at 3 p.m. in the CN lecture hall and will be followed by a get together.
Abstract
Our research focuses on understanding how genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors interact to shape metabolic health and the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes. We investigate how lifestyle interventions, including intermittent fasting and physical activity, influence molecular and cellular processes in key metabolic tissues. By combining experimental models, human studies, and multi-omics approaches, we aim to identify mechanisms that determine individual susceptibility to metabolic disease and variation in response to intervention. Ultimately, our work seeks to translate these molecular insights into novel biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and more personalized strategies for the prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders.
