Prof. Edith Heard, the Director General of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) has attended the bilateral meeting of Centre of Excellence BRAINCITY (Nencki Institute) and EMBL.

During the meeting Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, Institute’s Director introduced the Institute and Mikołajki Outstation. Next, Prof. Heard gave a talk on EMBL and the new Research Programme that extends well beyond laboratories to understand natural environment, human health at the level of entire planet Earth. The talk was followed by a session, during which all the Group Leaders of the BRAINCITY and DIOSCURI Centre presented their research.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Maciej Żylicz, the President of Foundation for Polish Science (FNP).

Prof. Heard’s visit in Poland also included the meeting with Secretary of State, Prof. Włodzimierz Bernacki at the Ministry of Education and Science and then with the representatives of the Polish biomedical research community.
