Reporting session of PhD students of the Department of Neurophysiology of the Nencki Institute

The annual PhD student reports of the Department of Neurophysiology took place on 10th-11th June 2016 during the session organized in the  Kormoran Centre in Mierki, lake Pluszne.

All presentations were ambitious and well prepared, racing against time and the animations. The sessions were chaired by:  Joanna Dzwonek and Olga Gajewska-Wozniak (session I), Piotr Majka and Daniel Wojcik (session II), Ewa  Kublik and Tomasz Górkiewicz (session III) and Anna Nowicka and Julita Korczyńska (session IV).

Of 29 presentations there were 3 distinguished by awards: in THE BEST BEGINNER category ( I year of PhD studies) the prize went to Carolina Ziegart-Sadowska (supervisor: dr hab. Ewelina Knapska); in the category  IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD (II and III year) the winner was Ilona Kotlewska-Kowalska (supervisor: prof. A. Nowicka),  and in the category THE LAST CHANCE TO WIN (IV-V year) the winner was Chaitanya Chintaluri (supervisor: prof. Daniel Wojcik). The special prize for  THE BEST SPEECH was awarded to Ilona Kotlewska-Kowalska.

The Awarded PhD students received books. This year our choices were: Human: The Science Behind What Makes Us Unique by Michael Gazzaniga, The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil by Philip Zimbardo, and  Hunger by Martin Caparros.

The organization of integration activities (quiz What do we know on our world,  volleyball, water sports, live-action role-playing game) took  upon themselves Kasia Chyl, Chaitanya Chintaluri, Michał Czerwinski and Jakub Kowalski, whom I thank very much for invention and help. Once again, congratulations to our PhD students on their progress and achievements. I thank all colleagues for the joint work and  enjoyable time we spent together.
