The Digital Shapers 2025 list was announced during the 18th edition of the TIME Economic Forum. This prestigious ranking highlights leaders, innovators, and visionaries who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the digital ecosystem and the technological landscape in Poland over the past year.
Among the awardees is Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, Director of the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS, who was recognized in the Innovations and Technologies category for developing the groundbreaking PreT2D sensor for the early diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
The technology enables the detection of disease risk at a very early stage—before the first symptoms appear. This is particularly important in the case of type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance, conditions that often develop silently and remain undetected for years, making effective treatment more difficult once diagnosed. The solution developed by Prof. Dobrzyń’s team may therefore significantly improve early diagnosis and prevention of metabolic diseases.
The Digital Shapers list is published annually by the Digital Poland Foundation. Its aim is to recognize individuals who contribute to the advancement of innovation, digital transformation, and the competitiveness of the Polish economy.
As Robert Pławiak, Chair of the Digital Academy of the 8th edition of the Digital Shapers list, emphasizes:
“An ideal Digital Shaper, in my understanding, is much more than just an innovator, creator or enthusiast of new technologies. Above all, it is a leader, a practitioner - in fact a person of action ready for change. A person who is able to turn a digital vision into real, measurable results. In the context of the 8th edition of the competition, which I have the honour to chair, we were looking for personalities who not only follow trends but actively shape them. A Digital Shaper is someone who understands that technology is a tool for solving specific business and social problems.” (Source: Business Insider Polska)
The recognition of Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń also highlights the growing role of research conducted at the Nencki Institute in developing cutting-edge technologies with strong potential for medical applications.
