Dr Tomasz Janecki appointed to the Council of the Museum of Polar Research

Dr Tomasz Janecki, Head of the Research Station of the Nencki Institute in Mikołajki, has been appointed by the Marshal of the Lubelskie Voivodeship to the Council of the Museum of Polar Research in Puławy.

The museum is the first institution in Poland dedicated to the history of Polish polar expeditions and research in the Arctic and Antarctic. Dr Janecki brings to the Council many years of research expertise and fieldwork practice, including six Antarctic expeditions. 

Dr Janecki is a polar researcher and hydrobiologist. He has spent two winters at the H. Arctowski Polish Antarctic Station, more than 40 months in Antarctica, and almost six months on polar cruises, focusing on Antarctic aquatic ecosystems. His appointment to the Museum Council recognises his scientific achievements and his commitment to promoting knowledge about polar regions.
