Children University at the Nencki Institute

In October 2016, the Nencki Institute hosted scientific workshop organized together with the Children University Foundation. The classes entitled How does the memory work? were taught by Dr Rafał Czajkowski and Edyta Balcerek at the Laboratory of Animal Models.

Over 250 young students (10-11 years old) took part, divided in 15 groups. The participants discovered how the spatial memory is studied in experimental animals, prepared their own microscopy slides and imaged them under the fluorescent microscope. They also analysed experimental data and tried to answer questions about the molecular mechanisms of memory formation.
