On 11^th June 2018, during the Joint East and West Central Europe ISAE Regional Meeting „Animal preferences and animal welfare”, Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, Director of the Nencki Institute, awarded the Medal of the 100^th anniversary of the Nencki Institute to the President of the Polish Ethological Society (PTEtol.), Prof. Ewa J. Godzińska, in recognition of many fruitful years of cooperation between the Institute and PTEtol.

Polish Ethological Society was founded in 1991, and the majority of its numerous endeavours in the field of promotion of behavioural sciences was carried out in cooperation with the Nencki Institute. Two presidents of PTEtol were also professors of the Nencki Institute: Jerzy Andrzej Chmurzyński, who earlier also founded the Ethological Seminars of the Nencki Institute (held continuously since 1966), and Ewa Joanna Godzińska.
