On March 9th The Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology hosted a team of eight scientists from the University of Portsmouth who arrived for (participated in) the Bilateral Conference organized as a part of collaboration between our Institutions and held at the Nencki Institute. The honorary guests of the Conference were Professor Jerzy Duszyński, the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Ms. Sarah Tiffin, Deputy Head of Mission, British Embassy Warsaw. The Conference was opened by Professor Adam Szewczyk Director of the Nencki Institute, Professor Paul Hayes Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education & Student Experience) University of Portsmouth and Professor Tara Dean, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Portsmouth. The Conference consisted of twelve lectures given by speakers from the University of Portsmouth (Prof. Dariusz Górecki, Prof. Janis Shute, Prof. Matt Guille, Dr Jerome Swinny Dr Anthony Lewis, Dr Sassan Hafizi from the University) and from the Nencki Institute (Prof. Bożena Kamińska-Kaczmarek, Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, Prof. Leszek Kaczmarek, dr Tytus Bernaś, dr Tomasz Prószyński) as well as a lecture given by dr. Maria Pawłowska from the Foundation for Polish Science. During the Conference ongoing research projects were presented which will be the base of bilateral collaboration.
