The Roundtable debate on "The needs of industry, and the commercialization of scientific research in Poland, in the field of biomedicine" was held at the Foundation for Polish Science.

The debate was aimed at starting a discussion between scientists and the pharmaceutical industry and was attended by representatives from public administration, key pharmaceutical companies, and leading research institutions. One of the representatives of science was prof. Leszek Kaczmarek from the Nencki Institute.

The main conclusion of the debate is the need to adopt a long-term strategy to build a partnership between the key players of the biopharmaceutical industry and science. This will provide the scientists with the knowledge concerning technology transfer and facilitate cooperation with the industry. A long-term, non-governmental strategy for the development of the biomedical sector in Poland is also needed, which must be jointly developed by key players: global and Polish industry and the academy - with strong support from public administration.
